CEF is a
Schedule 2 state owned diversified energy company reporting to the Department
of Mineral & Petroleum Resources. The Mandate of CEF is to contribute to
the security of energy supply of South Africa and the Region through
exploration, acquisition, development, marketing and strategic partnership. It
is derived from the CEF Act (No 38 of 1977) and the Ministerial directives
issued thereafter.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Deal origination and due diligence
- Identify and screen potential investment targets
aligned with the CEF’s investment strategy and policy.
- Perform valuation assessments, including discounted
cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and scenario modelling.
- Monitor the performance of portfolio companies and
recommend strategies to maximize returns.
- Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies
across all stages of the investment lifecycle.
- Develop investment theses and present
recommendations to the Executive Committee.
- Coordinate the tender process to onboard a
Transaction Advisory service provider to conduct a thorough due diligence on
the proposed investment.
- Develop the final business case for presentation to
the Executive Committee for approval for approval.
Capital Fundraising
- Develop and execute strategies for capital-raising
campaigns targeting institutional investors, high-net-worth individuals, and
other funding sources.
- Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda, pitch
decks, and financial models to support fundraising efforts.
- Lead investor relations, providing regular updates
on fund performance, market opportunities, and investment strategies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
to structure and negotiate funding terms and agreements.
- Overall transaction management.
Stakeholder engagement
- Work closely with internal teams, including legal,
compliance, operations, energy projects divisions, project management unit and
CEF subsidiaries (where relevant) to ensure smooth deal execution.
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant
external stakeholders in the energy sector, including but not limited to
Department of Mineral & Petroleum Resources, Department of Energy,
Financial Institutions, advisors & consultants.
- Represent the firm at industry events and investor
conferences to enhance visibility and network.
